Bringing together funders for food justice in Colorado
The Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger, with support from Civic Canopy, formed a collaborative of Colorado food justice funders in 2023. It brings together philanthropic organizations for learning, connections, and exploration of collaborative opportunities to impact food systems across Colorado. During their first year, they provided $10,000 in funding to a regional food coalition in southwestern Colorado as their first collective grantmaking to better support community-based efforts.
Civic Canopy recently shared some key learnings from forming the group, identifying their purpose, and starting to work together towards collective action. Read more on their blog about this collaborative effort and what others can consider from their experience.
Hosting virtual tour of The Hunger Museum
Join us for a virtual tour of The Hunger Museum, created by MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger! It will take place during the Blueprint’s Federal Policy Committee meeting on Thursday, April 11, from 3 - 4 p.m. The all-virtual museum provides an unprecedented digital exploration into the social and political history of hunger in America. Community leadership workshop: Nutrition & self-care awareness
The Liderazgo Comunitario (Community Leadership) project team of the Blueprint’s Workgroup #2/3: Healthy Food Access in Communities supports local leaders and community-led initiatives already advancing food access and justice in their areas. Their next monthly workshop, informed by community leaders, is scheduled for Monday, April 15, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Zoom. It will focus on nutrition and self-care awareness. Open office hours for equity learning
Have questions as your organization kickstarts or continues its equity journey? Join the Bueprint’s equity consultant Vaishnavi Hariprasad for open office hours on Tuesday, April 23, from 9 - 10:30 a.m. on Zoom.
