Join us in welcoming the Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger’s new Food Sovereignty Advisory Board as of November 2024! Representing local food coalitions and Colorado communities, this diverse group of nine community members functions similarly to our previous Governing Council and help guide us in building a movement for more responsive, equitable, and sustainable food systems across the state.
Each member brings community leadership and expertise with advancing local food systems, promoting food justice, and expanding food access. We’re excited to have their voices at the table as we seek to expand our reach and make progress towards an equitable food future for all.
Roles & Responsibilities
Our Food Sovereignty Advisory Board’s responsibilities differ from those of a governing board.
The Board of Directors for Trailhead Institute — our organization’s fiscal sponsor — provides compliance and operations support to the Blueprint, including but not limited to the drafting and implementation of financial policies and internal controls, tracking and ensuring legal, operational, and HR policies to protect the organization, and carrying out an annual organizational audit. With this structure, Trailhead Institute assumes the legal risk of the Blueprint’s activities, leaving the Advisory Board free to focus on the following:
Strategic planning: Support the Blueprint's strategic planning process to ensure that ongoing efforts are deeply rooted in community initiatives aimed at achieving food sovereignty and food justice.
Budget: Collaborate with the Blueprint's Co-Executive Directors to oversee and approve the organization's budget and fundraising strategy.
Projects: Approve Blueprint projects, ensuring these teams are impactful and adequately resourced for success.
Visibility: Uplift the profile and visibility of the Blueprint, leveraging their positions and connections without it being a burden.
For their time and talent, Advisory Board members are compensated $400 per month. This includes participation in monthly two-hour meetings and providing support to the Blueprint in the aforementioned ways. Terms range from 24 - 36 months.
