Standing with immigrant communities — Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger

Standing with immigrant communities

Standing with immigrant communities

March 5, 2025

Recent federal actions continue to cause immense distress and hardship for many in our communities. At the Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger, we stand firm in our belief that all humans—regardless of background or immigration status—deserve dignified, equitable access to nourishing, culturally relevant foods.

These inhumane federal policies are designed to instill fear, panic, and overwhelm. We refuse to stand by while people are being forced to choose between nourishment and security. The Blueprint will speak out, take action, and stand with our communities in ensuring food for all.

As allies of our immigrant and refugee communities, we reaffirm our pledge to:

  • Defend dignity: Food access is a right, not a privilege based on citizenship, and we’ll amplify this principle in and outside of our spaces. People should be able to access the food they choose, when and where they need it, free from fear and exclusion.

  • Center people’s safety: We’re hosting trainings to help organizations safeguard themselves and their communities. We’ll continue to share resources for communities and organizations so they know their rights and can protect people’s personal information

  • Demand justice: We’ll advocate against policies that create fear and prevent people from being able to access resources. We’ll also hold policymakers accountable for decisions that harm communities. For example, see our joint statement with several partner organizations about the U.S. House’s budget resolution vote that paves the way for massive cuts to essential programs like SNAP.

  • Strengthen solidarity and action: We’ll seek out opportunities to support organizations leading efforts that challenge harmful immigration policies and practices.

  • Prioritize language justice: We remain committed to accessibility so everyone can fully participate in our spaces. We’ll continue to ensure all network members can engage in the language of their hearts.

As new policies emerge, we’ll push back against harmful measures and continue to work towards a just, inclusive food system in Colorado where everyone can eat and reach their full potential in life.
