Raise your voice for SNAP: Delivering letters to D.C.
April 16, 2025
In early May, staff from the Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger and Hunger Free Colorado are heading to Washington D.C. to meet with members of Colorado’s Congressional delegation—and we want to bring your voice with us!
Federal proposals could cut Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits by limiting eligibility or reducing benefit amounts for families and individuals. That’s why it’s more important than ever for lawmakers to hear directly from community members.
That’s where you come in.
We're collecting handwritten* notes and letters to deliver in person on your behalf. These personal messages will help put real faces and stories behind the policies—and show the importance of the program and how deeply Coloradans care about protecting SNAP.
Who can submit a letter?
Anyone who:
Currently uses SNAP or has used it in the past
Owns or works for a retailer or farm that accepts SNAP benefits
Has loved ones who rely upon SNAP
Recognizes how important SNAP is for your community
Believes food access is a right, not a privilege
Why it matters:
Your voice matters–and legislators work for YOU.
What to do:
Write a one-page (or less) handwritten letter sharing why SNAP matters to you and your community. Use this template to help you get started.
Once done, take a photo of your letter and upload it using this Google Form by Tuesday, April 29. Then, we’ll hand-deliver to your Representative and our two Senators next month.
*If you have an accommodation request, let us know in the form and we’ll follow up with you!
