Urging federal support for rural communities
April 29, 2024
The Blueprint and partners thank the Biden-Harris Administration for their recent announcement of 141 new bold commitments as part of the Call to Action for the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health. These investments now total $9.7 billion and signal a new era to reduce hunger and promote healthy communities across the nation.
As part of their National Strategy on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health, the Blueprint and partners hope the Administration will consider the unique needs of rural, frontier, and micro-communities, particularly their challenges to accessing federal funds. We recently sent a letter to the White House, urging them to consider how local, regional, and state-level programs and policies can support their ambitious agenda and challenge the traditional, siloed thinking to consider how funding can reach communities in counties with populations of 10,000 or less. Now, we’re preparing to send this letter to Colorado’s delegation in Congress, along with some candidates for office.
If you’re interested in signing on to the letter or learning more, please contact Greta Allen, our policy director.
