Announcing our new Advisory Board
Tuesday, November 19
Join us in welcoming the Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger’s new Food Sovereignty Advisory Board! Representing local food coalitions and Colorado communities, this diverse group of nine community members will function similarly to our previous Governing Council and help guide us in building a movement for more responsive, equitable, and sustainable food systems across the state.
They’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring all of our efforts are deeply rooted in community initiatives and guided by our principles of food justice and food sovereignty. For us, that means equitable access to healthy, affordable, and culturally affirming food being seen as a basic human right and communities having the power to choose what they eat, where it comes from, how it’s grown, and when it's available.
The Advisory Board will hold us accountable in fulfilling our commitments of convening partners, supporting local solutions, strengthening resources, and championing bold policy change. We want to shift power to Colorado communities and generate momentum for those who lead this movement – the people who grow, produce, sell, and eat food.
Each member brings community leadership and expertise with advancing local food systems, promoting food justice, and expanding food access. We’re excited to have their voices at the table as we seek to expand our reach and make progress towards an equitable food future for all.
While embarking on this new chapter, we also want to extend our deep gratitude to former Governing Council members. Our transition would not be possible without their invaluable contributions since the Blueprint became an organization in 2019. The Governing Council laid a strong foundation, first with implementing the five-year plan, and more recently helping shape the Blueprint’s transformation journey. Thanks to all outgoing and past members for their dedication, wisdom, and leadership over the years; you have enabled us to grow and evolve with the changing needs of Colorado communities.
We look forward to working with our new Advisory Board – along with everyone else in our diverse and growing network – as we move towards our shared vision for Colorado. Everyone should be able to access the food they choose, where they want it, and when they need it.
In solidarity,
