Teaming up with Nourish Colorado for language justice training

Last week, the Blueprint team joined staff from Nourish Colorado for a half-day of interactive learning about language justice from the Community Language Cooperative. Language justice ensures there’s space for participants to speak in the language that they feel most comfortable using. It’s a key practice to build community power and engage directly with those who have historically been left out and oppressed like non-English speakers.

Here at the Blueprint, we are committed to centering equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging within all of our work. We practice language justice by offering simultaneous interpretation in Spanish and English at all Blueprint-hosted meetings and activities, in addition to providing all public communication in both languages. The training showed us where we can grow in this practice and become even more welcoming and inclusive for all seeking to address hunger across Colorado.
