New farm equity roles at Colorado Department of Agriculture

October 3, 2024

The Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) created new regional coordinator positions to support workforce development and farm equity across the state. The Blueprint helped design the bilingual roles to uplift female farmers and farm workers, farmers and farm workers of color, and LGBTQIA2+ farmers and farmworkers.

The goal is to bring more diverse voices into CDA to better serve all farmers in Colorado. The regional coordinators will work directly with farming communities to understand their unique challenges and needs; advocate for policies and programs that promote equity and inclusivity in agriculture; and procure additional federal resources for under-resourced populations.

The Farm Equity Office Coalition, a project of the Colorado Blueprint to the End Hunger led by advocates across Colorado, collaborated with CDA to fund these new positions.
